Every single memory Of every passing moment As it dies Mourning over someone I never knew A thousand years before my time Giving up on inhibitions Finally feel free to be alive But I’m still empty Holiness and happiness aren’t one and the same I’ve got black as my wardrobe and I run from the pain My back is broken from the weight of every passing gaze My inhibitions finally lost my life can finally fade Holiness and happiness aren’t one and the same I’ve got black as my wardrobe and I run from the pain My back is broken from the weight of every passing gaze My inhibitions finally lost my life can finally fade Holiness and happiness aren’t one and the same I’ve got black as my wardrobe and I run from the pain My back is broken from the weight of every passing gaze My inhibitions finally lost my life can finally fade Always the rapture Televising hate Always the rapture Televising hate

Your lips pierce the air like a horn My body is the base of a mountain Your eyes break the silence again My arms are broken from the weight Your hate permeates my conscious My love burns inside of a hole Your words bleed inside of a child I can’t save a single person My body It fails me Come and Replace me Your love never approaches when needed My mail never seems to come through Your hands never feel where they should have I can’t save a single person Your fuck ruins my aspirations My body is the base of a mountain Your fuck ruins my aspirations My body is the base of a mountain Your fuck ruins my aspirations My body is the base of a mountain Your fuck ruins my aspirations My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain My body is the base of a mountain

I’ve seen that look before And I know you’re ready to be weaponized And I’ll be your rifleman I know you’re satisfied But I cant help but wonder what your skin is like On mine And I know you’re satisfied But I can’t help but wonder what your skin is like On mine It’s the summer that dried the well I know you’ve heard it all before It’s the summer that dried the well I know you’ve heard it all before It’s the summer that dried the well But we both got time to grow It’s the summer that dried the well But we both got time to grow It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you It’s you

Cold hands We hesitate to hold Wait for me I need to breathe one more time Hard ball These games are getting old Everything we told you was wrong Somewhere deep inside you know that Everything we told you was wrong Cold hands We hesitate to hold We’re useless I need the warmth of your love Everything we told you was wrong Somewhere deep inside you know that Everything we told you was wrong

Southern skies bleached white My only friend is a lie I feel nothing I feel nothing Same thing again I want quiet Same nothing again I feel nothing I feel nothing

Your Cologne just stains the fridge like mold The insatiable desire for loudness in a silent universe The fridge is empty except for the beers And the meat And on my skin the night is warm The tears are touching my lips The enemy is near And in the mirror I see him frown Daggers as my guide In the dark may they lead me To every realization That I will be just like you Daggers as my guide In the dark may they lead me To every realization That I will be just like you

Oh seaward we fly Oh sunshine it burns my skin Oh heartlands found within Oh Oh Oh

Under the lighthouse Blood is running through his veins He holds the key to a ship but it sank It sank And while everything’s lost I gave it up Though everything’s gone He runs into The ocean He searches for the ship but it’s lost It’s lost And while everything’s lost I give it up Though everything’s gone And everything echoes Like some sort of song My tires are worn like my feet are burned And everything echoes Like some sort of song

Every mistake Every mistake I would make again To tell you that I love you I have my regrets I have my regrets But I wish that I Could tell you that I love you And every move I made it for you Clutching your hand on the top of my roof It’s that summer that dried the well Five years now and I can’t break the spell It’s the summer that dried the well I’ll never love anyone the same It’s the summer that dried the well I hope you live a happy life It’s the summer that dried the well I’ll just keep living mine the same It’s the summer that dried the well Living through every mistake It’s the summer that dried the well And I can’t save a single person

Passing through the gate with An infinite wisdom An infinite regrets Finally Hold me tight I feel The cold as it enters My bones Creeping in Years gone by and still It’s empty And the world seems to disappear It’s empty and so now it’s clear Finally

about

I set out to make a second LP in the summer of 2020, and while it eventually hailed some interesting concepts and helped me further explore and improve my production ability, it was not what I wanted. This is what I did instead.

I began recording demos for the album in the summer of 2021, and it was a formative few months, hence the name, The Summer That Dried the Well. I dealt with the reality of finally moving away from my family and life for college. I expressed my anticipation for this with my single Graduation Party, but it was more complicated than that. My parents had separated in November of 2020, and this dry summer of 2021 was still thick with divorce afterbirth. I closed and opened the books on many stories.

In this album I let myself say goodbye to both my grandfather in his passing and an ex-girlfriend in my letting go. I dug into the core of my relationship with my father and my parents' separation. I explored my fear of abandoning my life and brother, and my inability to save or help anyone in doing so. I tried to explore and express my own state of mind throughout.

Demos recorded in my bedroom in my father's former house and in my dorm room at Northern Arizona University in the summer and fall of 2021. Final tracks recorded in my bedroom in my father's former home over winter 2021.

The instruments used for this album are: Logic Pro X, Bitwig (for demos), Marshall cabinet, Gibson Les Paul, Epiphone Wilshire reissue, Hello Kitty Fender Squier Stratocaster, Agile 8-string electric guitar, Noah’s Ibanez bass, Steve’s acoustic Ibanez guitar, Taylor acoustic guitar, SM-57 condenser microphone, Rode NT-1 microphone, THOR bell kit.

Thank you to Noah for letting me borrow his bass for this album (and an absurd amount of time), and for the incredible mixing that brought this album to life. Thank you to my mom's former coworker and friend, Steve, for giving me the acoustic guitar that can be heard throughout the album. Thank you to Patrick Shambayati for the clean mastering. Thank you to Max Berry for the beautiful solo on As it Slips Through Your Fingers, and apologies for me making it off-time. Thank you to Fenrir Batdorf for the remix of Every Yesterday is a Rabbit Hole. Thank you to my Mom, Liam and Jon from Locon Records, and Emily for your constant support and love. Thank you to everyone who took the time to listen.

Rest in peace Olga Gaikovichn (The Ditch Between the Roads).
